Hey, I’m Jess

I was born and raised in Omaha, NE. I married my husband Chris ten years ago, and we have three boys, Anthony, Jude, & Asher. We live in a beautiful farmhouse where we also have two dogs and five barn cats, along with ducks and chickens that I’m obsessed with. We love junking and antique hunting, repurposing vintage finds for our home, and creating a comforting lifestyle for our family.

How I Got Into Candle Making:

After working in the restaurant industry for 16 years,  I took my love for antiques and began selling them so I could have a more flexible schedule for my kids. I wanted to add something along with the antiques/furniture, so I tried candle making and fell in love. Have now been operating since 2018. I love creating clean products that make people’s homes cozy and relaxing. My favorite thing is to experiment and create new scents!

Where Oak Creek Farmhouse Came From

Our farmhouse was built in 1872. When we moved into our home, I felt it needed a name… I’m not sure what or why but I just felt it in my gut that this home needed to be named. I even Googled “how to name your house” and went through lots of articles/blogs that explain how one should name their house, but I could not come up with anything! One day I was going through paperwork we have on our home and family who started the farmstead, and on one of the pieces of paper it said, “Oak Creek Farms” – it felt so right! And that’s where Oak Creek Farmhouse came to be.

My Favorite Thing About Our Home:
I love so much about our home, but the history of it is truly special to me. Our house is a little piece of Nebraska history, and we think that is pretty awesome. Also, the farmhouse is 96% shiplap and we love it!
